Tanoa Hotels Plan(et) for the Future

In an inspiring move toward sustainability and local community development, Tanoa International Hotel recently initiated to plant 200 pawpaw (papaya) trees on its premises.

The event took place on 5th September at Tanoa International Hotel boundary.

This project reflects the hotel’s commitment to environmental stewardship and aligns with global trends of integrating eco-friendly practices into business operations.

Area General Manager, Mr Narend Kumar shared his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the significance of the pawpaw tree initiative for the hotel and the community. He highlighted the broader vision behind the endeavour.

“We are incredibly proud to launch this initiative, which not only beautifies our hotel grounds but also strengthens our commitment to sustainability and the local community. The planting of these 200 pawpaw trees reflects our deep-rooted belief in fostering a greener environment, supporting local agriculture, and contributing to the long-term well-being of our region”, Mr Kumar mentioned.

Mr Kumar further says that by growing our own fresh, organic fruit, we’re minimizing the need for imported produce, reducing waste, and ensuring that our guests enjoy the freshest ingredients right from our backyard- a farm to table initiative of Tanoa Hotel Group.”

Meanwhile, OHS and Sustainable Manager, Mr. Roneel Ravinesh Chand expressed great enthusiasm about the pawpaw tree initiative, underscoring the environmental and community benefits of the project.

He highlighted how it aligns with the hotel’s long-term sustainability strategy.

“The pawpaw trees are just the beginning. We plan to continue expanding our green initiatives, from planting more trees to implementing new energy-efficient technologies. Our goal is to elevate commitments for sustainable tourism, not just within our hotel, but across the entire region”, Mr Chand pointed out.

Being the locally owned Hotel in Fiji and the Pacific, planting 200 pawpaw trees at Tanoa International Hotel is more than just a green initiative that marked a testament to the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, local agriculture, and community well-being.
